Nitrogen is critical for plant’s growth and development. Most plants
take up nitrogen from the soil, but the legume family of plants can
derive nitrogen directly from the air. How can you ensure you are
getting as much nitrogen as possible from your legumes? We will give
an overview of biological nitrogen fixation and legume inoculation.
We will also show you how to calculate pounds of nitrogen you are
getting from your legumes and discuss promising options for winter
annual legumes in the Midwest.
