USDA Advancing Markets for Producers (AMP)
Equipping Organic Grain Farmers with Production and Marketing Tools to Improve Economic Returns
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced an unprecedented initiative that aims to expand markets and strengthen rural America by providing targeted funding to projects that meet the Farmer-First guidelines on farms, ranches, and forests. This significant investment directly finances projects that will help farmers and ranchers access new market opportunities
Marbleseed, and its partners, have been awarded grant funding through the Advancing Markets for Producers (AMP) to implement a multistate project that will engage organic grain producers and producers looking to transition to organic production.
Each participating producer will receive an enrollment incentive for the project's duration that will cost-share the expenses associated with maintaining organic certification and continuous improvement associated with organic certification. Producers will be supported by field service coordinators who will provide technical assistance, education, and collect farm and market data. Payments support producer-led organic systems planning, documentation, and decision-making required for organic certification, transition, or market expansion, rather than prescriptive practice installation or engineering standards
During this three-year project we aim to accomplish three main objectives for dozens of farmers:
-
Objective 1: Incentivize the voluntary adoption of organic soil health initiatives
-
Objective 2: Monitor and impacts of organic soil health practices on market access
-
Objective 3: Improve and expand markets

ORGANIC GRAIN INTEREST FORM FOR AMP
This project intentionally centers National Organic Program (NOP) regulations and Organic System Plans (OSPs) as the primary framework for technical assistance and producer compensation. While soil health outcomes may overlap with objectives, project funds will not be used to pay for or duplicate NRCS-defined practices, cost-share programs, or implementation expenses.
