Vegetable Growing Intensive

Jan 15 - Jan 16 | Dayton, MN | Eastman Nature Center | $
The goal of this 2-day training will be to understand how to improve efficiency in your vegetable operation to improve profits and yields. Growers will leave with knowledge, skills and hands-on practice for moving their farm businesses beyond small volumes and into profitable, sustainable businesses. All participants will receive printed manuals detailing many low-cost on-farm infrastructure plans and tables to plan their cropping systems.

This 2-day in-depth workshop will provide information related to:

  • Crop planning and variety selection -Planning beds and planting dates
  • Understanding how insects and weeds can impact yields and how to manage them
  • Weeding with tools for efficiency
  • Postharvest handling and cooling for safety and quality
  • Food safety practices
  • Working with contracts and how to sell to wholesale customers

Cost
$75: includes light breakfast, lunch, snacks, and binder of class materials.
