Organic Potato Production Field Day at Igl Farms
Jul 30, 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM CT
Antigo, WI | Igl Farms | $
Family owned and operated for over 75 years, Igl Farms specialize in growing healthy nutritious organic potatoes and sell in small or large quantities. Several crops are grown in rotation, including potatoes, oats, clover or alfalfa hay, with pastureland for a small herd of beef cattle and horses, and field peas for seed. They grow biologically following the program and biological farming principles of Midwestern Bio-Ag and Advancing Eco-Ag. This consists mainly of balancing the soil minerals, increasing soil biology and improving soil tilth and structure to create healthier soil, plants and food for animals and people.
This field day will showcase growing organic potatoes while discussing pest, disease and fertility considerations as well as an overview of the organic potato market and transitioning to organic production. The day will start with presentations from Advancing Eco Ag and Midwest Bio-Ag on what they focus on for certified organic fertility in potato fields. Then attendees will look at specialized equipment for organic production before heading to the field to discuss weed and pest control and fertility considerations. Lunch will be provided for this free event. We hope to see you there!
