Seeds of Discovery: Train-the-Trainer for Mentors and Ag Profes
Aug 18, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM CT
Madison, WI | Goodman Community Center | Free
The world of agriculture has become more complex and the challenges greater while uncertainty in weather, markets, and so much else is on the rise. You came into this work to make a difference, but some days it feels like you barely make a dent.
You’ve heard that you can’t solve a problem with the same thinking that created it. That applies to the person with a problem, but also to the person helping them. But what exactly IS the problem, what’s the thinking that created it, and how else are we supposed to think? Luckily, some of the best practices for navigating complex challenges have parallel principles to a truly sustainable agriculture.
We’ll explore:
-A model for understanding behavioral drivers and change resisters in the ag system.
-Principles for managing uncertainty.
-The dark sides and pitfalls of Active Listening and Earning Trust.
-The invisible change agent of middle adopters.
-A key concept for successfully managing our own energy through all of this.
-The persisting question: “How do we get farmers to do
_?”
Whether you’re a conservation professional or farmer leader, new to the work or an experienced hand, join this interactive workshop to offer your perspective and learn concepts and practices to improve your boots-on-the-ground effectiveness helping others.
